Fishing activity is among the core economic activities in Lake Zone. However, the sector is still challenged by poor storage technology and transportation. In addressing this challenge, the project supported electricity connectivity to constructed Ice processing industry and preservation with the capacity to produce 5 tons of ice per day located at Kakukuru Village in Ukerewe District, Tanzania.

Moreover, the project supported electrical wiring to constructed building for Ice processing industry, procurements of water facilities and installation of machinery of Ice processing industry at Kakukuru Village, Ukerewe District amounting to Tshs 34,756,500/=. The industry is owned by a group of fishermen in Ukerewe District namely Bukasiga fishermen group with registration number MZR 909.
