The report presents findings of the economic analysis for the Pro-poor Economic Growth and Environmentally Sustainable Development Project, which is a joint venture between the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Furthermore, business proposals for the up-scaling of the poverty-environment projects, institutional arrangement and capacity development strategy have been developed. In the endeavour to demonstrate the strong linkage between sustainable management of environmental resources, poverty reduction and livelihood improvement, pilot projects that are pro-poor, gender-responsive, and environmentally sustainable were undertaken in six (6) districts of Bunda in Mara Region, IIeje in Mbeya Region, Ikungi in Singida Region, Sengerema in Mwanza Region, Nyasa in Ruvuma Region and Bukoba Rural in Kagera Region.
