The SC4SDG project of UNDP Bangladesh, in partnership with the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) – the secretariat of Citizen's Platform for SDGs Bangladesh, and with the support of (UNDP-UNEP) Poverty-Environment Action (PEA), successfully organized a day-long conference on, "SDGs and Youth in Bangladesh: Present Perspectives and Future Outlook" at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh on 1 September 2022. Mr. M. A. Mannan, MP, Hon'ble Minister for Planning, graced the event as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Stephan Lillier, Resident Representative, UNDP Bangladesh attended the event as a special guest. The inaugural session was chaired by Ms Sultana Kamal, Human rights activist, and former advisor to the Caretaker Government. Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, Convenor of Citizen's Platform, presented the conference theme at the conference's inaugural session. Aside, Nobonita Chowdhury, director of Gender, Justice and Diversity and Preventing Violence Against Women Initiative at Brac; noted filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and AKM Fahim Mashroor, chief executive officer of also spoke at the inaugural session.

The key objectives of the conference were to bring public and private university students to a single platform, sensitize them about SDGs and engage them in promoting SDGs by ensuring that their voices are taken into consideration in the national planning. The conference featured over six presentations in six parallel sessions on i) Poverty and social protection ii) Climate action iii) Peace and Justice Strong Institutions iv) Gender Equality v) Responsible consumption and production vi) Decent Work and Economic Growth. Public and private university students (selected through online competition) presented their thoughts and views on respective themes at the parallel sessions.

Ms Gwynne Lewis, Resident Coordinator, United Nations Bangladesh attended the closing session of the conference as a special guest. Besides, Mr. Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow, CPD, and Mr Asif Ibrahim, Vice-Chairman, New Age Group and Industries, delivered their concluding remarks at the closing session.

More than 500 participants gathered for the day-long conference. Apart from the students, youth representatives from different parts of Bangladesh, youth organizers, members of the transgender and physically challenged organization, leaders of civil platform affiliates, international development partners, public and private sector representatives, and media, among others, participated in the conference.

The conference closed with the adoption of the "Youth Declaration 2022".
