The General Economics Division (GED), Bangladesh Planning Commission in association with the Strengthening Institutional Capacity for SDGs Achievement in Bangladesh (SC4SDG) project organized an inter-ministerial consultation workshop on “Revised SDGs Monitoring and Evaluation Framework” on 20 December 2020 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Dhaka. Dr. Shamsul Alam, Member (Senior Secretary), GED chaired this important consultation.
GED with technical and financial support from the SC4SDG project has prepared and published the report titled “Revised Monitoring and Evaluation Framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Bangladesh Perspective” on April 2020 to reflect the changes made in the SDGs Global Indicators Framework and to accommodate changes occurred in the global and national data domain. Baseline data has been provided for 161 indicators, while this revisited SDGs M&E Framework has been developed for 138 indicators out of 247 indicators. Bangladesh SDG Progress Report 2020 and Voluntary National Review (VNR) 2020 have been prepared based on this Revised SDGs M&E Framework. This framework will be used for all future SDGs progress monitoring reports.
The objective of this workshop was to bring together the SDG Focal Points from 46 ministries and divisions to sensitize them about the SDG Monitoring and Evaluation System of Bangladesh and also, brief about the changes made in the SDGs Global Indicator Framework and Revised SDG M&E Framework. A group of 60 participants from different ministries, divisions, government agencies, and UNDP attended the event.
