With the aim to debunk metadata and generate data for SDG indicator 5.c.1, the ‘Strengthening Institutional Capacity for SDGs Achievement in Bangladesh’ (SC4SDG) project of UNDP Bangladesh/UNDP-UNEP Poverty and Environment Action project, in collaboration with the SDG Cell of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) is organizing a 2-day long training workshop at the Palace Resort, Bahubal, Habiganj on 20-21 November 2020. The training brings together a group of 35 participants from different line ministries/divisions/institutions.

The training workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury, Secretary, Statistics and Informatics Division (SID), Ministry of Planning, while Mr. Md. Kamrul Hasan, Deputy Commissioner, Habiganj and Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Van, Deputy Resident Representative, UNDP Bangladesh attended as the Guests of Honours. Mr. Mohammad Tajul Islam, Director General (Additional Secretary), Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) chaired the opening session of the training workshop.

Ms. Zohra Khan, Global Policy Advisor, Governance and National Planning, UN WOMEN joined virtually from New York to conduct a session titled "Computation method and formula of indicator 5.c.1" on the first day of the training. The training will also facilitate hands-on sessions on the interpretation of the indicator, compilation of administrative data from government organizations, and developing SDMX for SDG indicator 5.c.1.

This training workshop aims at increasing awareness of SDG indicator 5.c.1 and enhancing knowledge and capacity of key stakeholders, including government representatives and statisticians, on the monitoring and reporting process of this indicator. At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to apply the gained expertise and disseminate the acquired knowledge within their institutions and to other organizations.
