The General Economics Division (GED), Bangladesh Planning Commission, in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Poverty-Environment Action (PEA), organized regional consultation on “Accelerating SDGs localization in Bangladesh: Opportunities and Challenges” on 17 October 2022 at The Grand Placid Hotel, Khulna. The ‘Localization’ consultation aimed to sensitize the wider stakeholders, including civil society organizations (CSOs), non-government organizations (NGOs), academics, the media, and the private sector about SDG localization and its way forward for implementing SDGs in the north-western region of Bangladesh.

Participants of this consultation discussed that local government must be one of the prime institutions of the 2030 Agenda to fit SDGs into the local context and help citizens understand how local action contributes to the achievement of the SDGs.

This regional consultation was attended by Ms. Zuena Aziz, Principal Coordinator (SDG Affairs), Prime Minister Office, as Chief Guest, and Dr. Md. Kawser Ahmed, Member (Secretary), General Economics Division (GED), Bangladesh Planning Commission, as Special Guest.
