Poverty-Environment Action focuses on enhancing the spread and effectiveness of poverty-environment mainstreaming by better capturing, assessing and documenting good practices, and by linking with ongoing work of key global and regional actors supporting national SDG implementation and acceleration processes. We engage in national SDG platforms and regional SDG knowledge exchanges and conduct South-South cooperation and exchanges. The project will

  • Develop knowledge products on integrated approaches and tools for mainstreaming environmental sustainability and climate objectives for poverty eradication—including publications on lessons learned, case studies, guidelines, etc., and development of a web-based platform/database
  • Develop a set of training modules on the application of integrated poverty-environment mainstreaming approaches and tools (to be piloted in collaboration with development partners, possibly including the United Nations Institute for Training and Research)
  • Undertake advocacy and coordination with development partners engaged in supporting SDG implementation to mainstream the use of Poverty-Environment Action integrated approaches and tools in their programmes and to ensure synergies with similar projects
  • Conduct a series of South-South cooperation/learning and capacity-building events on major poverty-environment mainstreaming themes in response to priority demand from “non–Poverty-Environment Action” countries and supporting the broadening strategy
